About Us

Why Savannah Dance?

Savannah Dance is the premiere dance school conveniently located in Savannah, TX, right in the heart of the DFW Hwy 380 corridor.  We are a performance based studio focusing on teaching girls proper dance technique while keeping it fun!  The focus is on positive reinforcement and building confidence in a dancer without the pressure of the dance competition world. Our students perform throughout the dance year, including a full spring recital and a new winter showcase.  Savannah Dance Company dancers have even more opportunities to perform during the year at local festivals and events.

Most classes are combination classes of either ballet and tap, ballet and Jazz, or ballet, tap, and classic jazz, giving girls the chance to experience different styles of dance within one class.  Combination classes also make dance a more affordable option for families and do not require a commitment of multiple days per week devoted only to dance. There are also jazz funk/ hip hop classes offered at various levels, including adults!  The ladies ballet barre class is a great workout!  Affordable tuition rates and quality dance instruction make Savannah Dance an excellent choice for families.

Lisa Story, Owner/ Instructor

Lisa Story is the studio owner and dance instructor of Savannah Dance.  "Miss Lisa," as her students call her, has been dancing since she was two years old, teaching dance since she was 19, and started Savannah Dance in fall 2012 to bring her skills and passion to North Texas.  Miss Lisa began her early dance years with Rita Robertson School of Dance in South Texas.  She then went on to dance in college, both at the University of Texas- Pan American (now UTRGV) and Louisiana State University.  During graduate school at Texas Teach University, she continued her training at Diana's Dancenter of Lubbock.  Upon graduation, she was a dance instructor and company dancer at Rita Robertson School of Dance before relocating to North Texas.

"As owner/ instructor of Savannah Dance, I am dedicated to teaching proper dance technique while building confidence, self-discipline, grace, and strength in my students.  I strive to mold a dancer who can impress herself, not some judge, with what she has learned.  There should not be so much pressure on a girl to be perfect that she no longer loves to dance.  If she gives 100%, her best will always be good enough because she is good enough. To me, teaching dance is about so much more than just teaching steps and technique, it is about teaching a girl that she can accomplish anything through hard work and dedication."  --Lisa Story
